Arsenal's new signing, Mohamed Elneny, believes he has made a massive career shift by joining the Premier League giants, vowing to do his best to prove his worth in the coming period.
The Egyptian international ace joined the Gunners on 14 January and was benched during his new side's goalless draw against Stoke City on Sunday. He has yet to make his debut.
“I expect it to be a massive shift in my career and a big starting point,” the 23-year-old midfielder was quoted as saying by Arsenal's official website on Friday.
“I would like to achieve a lot and prove to myself and everyone that I am capable of playing in the Premier League and any league around the world. Hopefully I can develop my skills more and more.
“I always work hard to develop all aspects of my skills to benefit the club I play for. As I mentioned before, Arsenal is a big club and I have to live up to this responsibility. That’s why I work hard to develop myself continuously," he added.
Ahead of Sunday's anticipated match against Chelsea, Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table with 44 points after 22 rounds. Chelsea is in 14th place with 25 points.
“I can see that Arsenal are having one of their best seasons, that makes me very enthusiastic to play with the best team in the Premier League, both now and in the past,” Elneny explained.
“That is why I am very keen to accept this responsibility. I am very aware of this and I am well prepared for this task," he concluded.
Elneny, a product of the youth academy of Cairo giants Ahly before moving to fellow Egyptian Premier League club Arab Contractors, joined Arsenal from Swiss side Basel for £6.5 million.
