Mohamed Salah moved joint 11th in Egypt's all-time top scorers list after netting a double to lead the team to a 2-0 victory at Tanzania which earned them a place at next year's African Cup of Nations finals for the first time since 2010.
The 23-year-old opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime when he curled a free kick into the bottom corner before finishing off a breakaway 14 minutes after the restart to ensure Egypt's progress to the Gabon finals.
He took his tally to 26 goals in 43 international appearances, on level with former forward Ahmed El-Kass who was one of the key members of an Egypt side which made the country's last World Cup appearance in 1990.
Salah is also just three goals short of surpassing Ahly's legendary forward Mahmoud El-Khatib.
Hossam Hassan, widely regarded as one of the best strikers in Egypt's history, remains the all-time leading scorer with 78 goals in 176 appearances, followed by late frontman Hassan El-Shazli (41) and Ahly icon Mohamed Abou-Treika (38).
