Al-Ahly's Malick Evouna (L) celebrates with teammates scoring a goal against Zamalek on 9 February 2016 (Reuters)
Ahly suffered a large blow as influential duo Malick Evouna and Abdallah El-Said will both miss the green for one month due to injuries, the team's doctor announced on Tuesday.
"The two are in a rehabilitation programme and will be examined within 10 days. They will not join the regular training before next month," the club's doctor Khaled Mahmoud told the team’s official website Tuesday.
The two players will miss the crucial African Champions League game against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, with the home and away games scheduled for 16 and 27 July.
The record holders of eight Champions League trophies, Ahly have lost the group stage two opening matches against Zesco United of Zambia 3-2 away and Ivory Coast's Asec Mimosa 2-1 on home soil.
Striker Evouna bagged 12 league goals so far, while playmaker El-Said scored 11 and has been pulling the strings in offense and orchestrating the play.
Ahly have won the Egyptian Premier League title but they will be facing-off holders and bitter rivals Zamalek on 9 July in the last game of the season.
