The 36-year old midfielder beat fellow countryman Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo’ and Congolese striker Alain Kaluyituka from TP Mazembe.
Hassan produced an outstanding performance in the African Cup of Nations 2010 to give the Pharaohs a seventh-record title and their third in a row.
Scoring three goals and delivering a string of assists, he was rewarded with the Most Valuable Player award of the top African competition .
“I want to thank all the coaches who voted for me. I am also grateful for all my teammates and Egypt’s technical staff who helped me win this award and I think each one of them has a part in it,” the Ahly midfielder said.
“It has been a great honor and achievement for my 17-year old career and I hope I could go further to fulfill all my dreams,” he added.
Hassan is seen as one of Egypt’s most successful players of all-times. He played a major role in the Pharaohs four ACN wins in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
