Egypt's Weightlifter Abeer AbdelRahma could be awarded Beijing 2008's bronze medal in the 69kg women weightlifting after the gold and bronze medalists tested positive for banned substance.

"Abeer finished fifth in Beijing. So, it's just a matter of time before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) awards Abeer the bronze after the suspended players’ are given the chance to appeal," the Egyptian Weightlifting Federation Chairman Mahmoud Mahgoub confirmed to Ahram Online.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced earlier Wednesday that China's gold medalist Liu Chunghong and bronze medalist Nataliya Davydova of Ukraine have violated the anti-doping regulations.

"Following the IOC’s decisions, the IWF will be in a position to take over the results management of these cases," the Federation said.

The 24-year-old Alexandria-born athlete is anticipated to win the 2012 London Olympics' silver after suspension of Gold medalist Svetlana Podobedova of Kazakhstan, Russia's silver medalist Natalya Zabolotnaya and Belarus' bronze medalist Iryna Kulesha. They competed in the 75 kg event at the London Games.

Egypt won two Weightlifting medals in the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro.
