Zamalek's Bassem Morsi

Zamalek international striker Bassem Morsi will be out action for only week, club's football director Ismail Youssef told reporters on Monday, ending speculations concerning the player's injury.

The 24-year-old picked a back injury during Egypt's 2-0 win over Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers on Sunday. Several reports suggested that the Zamalek frontman, who was replaced in the break, needs around six weeks to recover.

"Scans revealed that the player needs only one week of treatment before resuming regular training," Zamalek's football director told reporters on Monday.

Morsi is a key player in the Zamalek line-up which relies on a sole striker.

Zamalek will face new-coming Tanta in a league game on Friday as they eye to join the race for the league title.

The White Knights are tenth in the league table, ten points behind leaders Ahly (20 points) who played four matches more.
