Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says he has seen a few players who are as good as Ramadan Sobhi in his trickery inside the box following a brilliant performance by the Egyptian winger during his side's 2-0 English Premier League victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Sobhi put in a stunning performance in his third consecutive match as a starter, giving opposing defenders hard time with his twists and turns in a game that saw him denied by the woodwork in the first half.

"You see the confidence that he is getting out by eventually playing," Hughes said after the match.

"When he was going one v one against Adama Traore, he (Sobhi) has got great power and lots of pace. He's excellent in those situations.

"I think he's growing confidence as a consequence. When you get him in good areas in the final third and when he's twisting and turning inside the box… There are few I've seen who are as good in those situations," Hughes added.

The 20-year-old was unlucky to see an effort from six yards hit the woodwork inside the opening 15 minutes, before being denied by keeper Victor Valdes who blocked the Egyptian's header in the closing stages.

The ex-Ahly winger spared no effort to retreat and contribute defensively for his side throughout, before sprinting forward to initiate his side's attacks.

He was at the center of several fine passing moves, most important of which was his slipped through-ball towards the onrushing Ibrahim Afellay - who was eventually thwarted by ex-Barcelona teammate Valdes.

Earlier, a twist and turn from Sobhi down the left handside of the box saw him set up Wales star Joe Allen whose effort from six yards was eventually cleared away by the Middlesbrough defense.
