Ahly's Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi has said he is working to win the CAF Champions League title with the Cairo giants, praising the Egyptian Premier League and saying he will fight to claim the position of top scorer this season.

The 20-year-old forward, who scored four goals during eight games with Ahly so far this season, joined the Red Devils for four years coming from Tunisian side CS Sfaxien last summer.

"I hope to win the CAF Champions League title, as all newly signed players also hope to lift the trophy, but it needs a great effort," Ajayi said in interview with Ahly's official website Sunday.

"I am working to win the Egyptian Premier League top scorer title but I am also concentrating on the team's benefit to win the games,"

"I appreciate the Egyptian Premier League tournament; it's a tough competition as we face well-organised teams during the domestic games," the Nigerian striker said.

"I enjoy playing in the Egyptian Premier League and I hope to continue with this performance as well as meeting Ahly's fans' expectations,"

Ahly is leading the Egyptian Premier League teams' table with 52 points, seven points ahead of second placed Maqassa and 12 points ahead of third placed rivals Zamalek.

"I think Ahly is working well to win the Egyptian Premier League title this season, and we are leading the teams' table, but we have to wait until the final whistle of the final game," Ajayi said.

"I am doing my best with Ahly to improve my performance to be able to join Nigeria national team," he added.

Meanwhile, Egyptian champions Ahly officially signed a three-year-contract with striker Souleymane Coulibaly of Ivory Coast last winter.

"Coulibaly is a good addition for the team and I think he will be ready to participate as well as saving a regular place in the squad," Ajayi said.

"Since I was young I heard about Ahly. I didn't think one day I could wear the Red Devils' jersey," Ajayi added.
