The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) revealed on their official website that their Congolese counterpart demanded to participate in the Nile Basin friendly tournament in Cairo between 5 and 17 January.

The EFA will discuss the matter as the schedules are already set.

In case of acceptance, the championship teams will be divided into two groups in the first round, four teams in the first and three in the second group.

As well as Egypt and Congo, the newly-introduced competition also combines Tanzania, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Burundi.
