Egypt winger Mohamed Salah said on Sunday he is delighted after winning the Premier League's Golden boot award, promising Liverpool fans that he will maintain his impressive goal-scoring run next season.

The 25-year-old crowned a superb season with a new scoring record as Liverpool hammered Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0 in their final game of the Premier League season to finish fourth and qualify for next season's Champions League.

He struck in the 26th minute to eclipse the previous mark of 31 goals achieved by Luis Suarez, Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"This is very special," Salah told Sky Sports after the game on Sunday.

"It’s always in my mind to help the team to win games, now we are in the Champions League next year and I have won the award, so I am very proud.

"I am trying to improve every year so I am very happy. It’s special to break the record here.

Responding to a question over whether he can replicate such form next season, Salah said: "Yes I will, don't worry. I will do my best to win it (the award) again."

Salah's extraordinary season also saw him win the Premier League's best player award by both the Professional Footballers' Association and the Football Writers' Association.

He helped Liverpool reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2007. They will face defending champions Real Madrid in Kiev on 26 May.
