Ahly striker Emad Meteb has been ruled out of Thursday’s week 12 league match with El-Geish due to injury.

“An x-ray has confirmed Meteb’s back injury is not serious but he needs to rest because we want him fit for Saturday’s Bayern game,” the Red Castle's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

The Egyptian champions will play a friendly match against the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Saturday in the Qatari capital, Doha.

“Sherif Abdel-Fadil is also out of Thursday’s match,” said Abdel-Hafiz about the talented defender who sustained a calf strain during training.

On the other hand, goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy is said to be fit again after he missed the Mahalla game last week due to injury.

Ahly are currently second in the Egyptian Premier League table with 23 points – two behind surprise leaders Haras El-Hodoud, who have played one game more.
