The speed of Egyptian winger Mahmoud Trezeguet makes him a game changer for his English Premier League club Aston Villa, according to England's former No.1 goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

"I think anyone with that level of raw pace is a game changer as all of sudden you offer a threat in and behind the defence," the former Tottenham and Blackburn player Robinson was quoted as saying by Football Insider on Monday.

The Pharaohs player Trezeguet made his long-awaited move to the Premier League in the summer after impressing with Turkey's Kasimpasa, where he scored 25 goals in 71 appearances.

The 25-year old Anderlecht player, who made eight league appearances with the Villans out of nine so far, has not played a full 90 minutes since the season start. 

Despite the fact that he is usually used as a substitute by his coach Dean Smith, especially in the last successive league matches, Robinson believes the winger's pace could always make a difference for his team.

"So the other team that are pushing up and holding a high line, they immediately drop as they know the pace that he’s got," explained Robinson.

"Then you’ve got that threat on the break, where one ball over the top, and you have an attacking opportunity, which means you can turn defence into attack very quickly.

"So having someone who offers you that kind of pace offers you such a different dimension to your team," he concluded.

Aston Villa currently lie in the 12th place in the Premier League table with 11 points, 14 behind leaders Liverpool.

Villa's next league match will be against Manchester City on Saturday.
