Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah believes that the Reds should remain hungry to defend the Premier League title and to clinch more trophies, warning his team about a comeback from their rivals in the coming season.

“Great, a great feeling to win the Premier League with the club after 30 years. It's a dream come true,” Salah told BBC on Friday.

"We need to keep the hunger for next season as well because next season is going to be more difficult than this one. Other teams will try to strike back again to win titles,” added the former Chelsea and AS Roma player.

Since joining the Reds in 2017 from Italian side Roma, Salah led Liverpool to a Champions League victory in 2019, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup titles in 2019 before claiming the English Premier League title this season.

The 28-year-old has shattered most of the scoring records for Liverpool and claimed back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot awards in 2018 and 2019.

"But I think the hunger can drive us again to win another trophy and another one. Hopefully we can do that. We have to fight for that, that has to be the main target,” said Salah.

Salah believes that Liverpool’s mission to keep success in the new season won’t be such an easy one as he fears that recent trophies affect the team’s drive.

"I think the next season, when I see the situation right now, it will be really difficult. I think more difficult than this one because the hunger when you win something – you win the Champions League, you win the Premier League – and when you win something it takes from your hunger,” he explained.

"So, the thing is, now we have to change that mentality. You have to find the point in your head that drives you forward and keep that hunger for next season and still after.

"I don't know why we can't win the Premier League two times or three times. It's only in our head. I think if you keep that hunger and we fight with all we have, it will be OK to do it next season, it will be possible,” he said.

In July 2018, the Pharaohs star signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool to remain with the club until 2023.
