The second leg of the African Champions League semi-final between Zamalek and Raja and the competiton's final have been postponed indefinitely upon the request of the Egyptian authorities, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday.

The second leg of the semi-final between Zamalek and Raja was set to be played on 1 November in Cairo.

Cairo giants Ahly have already reached the final after beating Wydad of Casablanca 5-1 on aggregate last week. The final was initially scheduled to be played on 6 November in Egypt.

The CAF Emergencies Committee held a meeting in Cairo on Thursday to decide the fate of the remaining games that come in tandem with the ongoing Egyptian parliamentary elections.

"At the request of the Egyptian authorities, the final is now postponed. Official discussions are underway to find a suitable date. Stakeholders are working in good faith," the CAF tweeted on Thursday.

"Discussions continue between clubs and CAF experts to find a pattern complying with regulations and returning to play spirit. At this stage, the postponement of the semi-final between Zamalek and Raja is certain. Constructive spirit on both sides," CAF added.

Fourteen Raja players tested positive for Covid-19 after the first leg in Casablanca that saw the Moroccan side lose 0-1 at home to Zamalek on 18 October, forcing CAF to push back the return leg from 24 october to 1 November as the team has been banned from travelling according to Moroccan health ministry guidelines.
