Ahly have signed Ahmed “Beckham” Ramadan from Wadi Degla on a five-year-contract to boost their injury-hit backline.

The 23-year-old defender is returning to his boyhood club for an undisclosed fee after spending the past three years with Cairo neighbours Wadi Degla.

Ahly's Marketing and Football contracts director Amir Tawfik revealed that Ramadan will join the team’s training on Tuesday after he undergoes a PCR test.

Ramadan, a natural central defender who can also be deployed as a right back, will be Ahly’s second signing in defence after the Moroccan Badr Benoun, as the Reds are aiming to bolster their defence as part of their plan for the new season to work on the team’s weak points.

Beckham started his football career with Ahly U-23 before joining Haras El- Hodoud in August 2015 on a one-year loan. After that, he joined Wadi Degla on loan in July 2018 before they activated the sell clause in January 2019 to transfer to Degla on a free contract.

He was a key member of Egypt's U23 team that won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations 2019 in Cairo and is set to play in next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.
