Liverpool Egyptian star winger Mohamed Salah, who captured the spotlights again after breaking Steven Gerard’s record of the Reds' most goal scorer in UEFA Champions League, said he’s seeking to score more goals to open a bigger gap with all other competitors.

Salah scored in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Denmark’s Midtjylland in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, to reach his 22nd goal in the continental tournament, overcoming the Reds legend Gerrard, who has 21 goals.

Mo's early goal in Denmark, which he had scored in the 55th second of the first half, was also Liverpool's fastest ever goal in the Champions League.

"It's a great feeling, of course, to be the top scorer for the club [in the Champions League], something I'm proud of. I need to keep going like that and scoring more goals and make the gap maybe bigger between me and the others!,” Salah told BT Sport.

"But I'm trying all the time to score goals just to help the team to win games – that's the most important thing."

"We scored the first goal early after the first minute but they struck back, played a good game. The game finished a draw but the most important thing [was] that we qualified already first. It's a game to learn, Salah concluded.

Liverpool, who finished first in Group D, and Italy's Atalanta, who came second, booked their places in the knockouts of the UEFA Champions League.
