Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah revealed that his team's game against Manchester United in the 19th matchday of the English Premier League will be a difficult mission for the two sides, saying it is a "it’s a little bit special this game".
Manchester United are in the driving seat of the Premier League with 36 points, three points over title holders Liverpool who are in the third in the teams' ranking after playing 17 games so far this season.
“The game is really big at the moment, especially because now they are first and we are second,” the Egyptian star was quoted as saying on the club's official website before the game.
“They are playing well this season as well. It’s a good game but at the end of the day we need to win that game, I think that’s the most important thing".
The 28-year-old, Egyptian star confirmed the game is a little bit special because if Man United win they are going to be six points ahead of Liverpool and if his team win they are going to be the same.
“It’s always different. The last two years I’ve always said it’s one game and that’s it, it’s three points. But this game now, because they are first and you have to be close to them and beat them to be first as well, it’s a little bit special.” Salah added.
Salah, who joined Liverpool in July 2017, helped Liverpool in winning two long-awaited titles: the 2018-2019 Champions League and the 2019-2020 Premier League.
“I’m happy when the team wins, that’s the most important thing,” the forward replied, when asked to assess his own form this term.
Salah became Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League as well as having snatched more titles with the English Premier League side.
“When I’m scoring goals and can help the team, that makes me more happy. When I don’t score and the team doesn’t win, that’s a nightmare!
“But I’m happy when we are first, I’m happy when I score goals to help the team because the team comes first before anything and before anyone.”
The Egyptian winger made 25 appearances with Liverpool so far this season in all competitions scoring 17 goals and provided four assists.
