Denmark won the Handball World Championship for a second straight time after beating Sweden 26-24 in an exciting and closely-fought final in Cairo on Sunday.

Both sides were neck and neck for the majority of the game but Denmark made the most of some stunning saves from keeper Niklas Landin to go three goals up in the latter stages and put Sweden to the sword.

Mikkel Hansen also stole the show with his trademark long-range rockets, which Sweden keeper struggled to deal with, as Denmark won the all-Scandinavian final.

The first half ended 13-13 as both sides traded punches in a fast-paced affair.

Denmark won the World Championship for a second time, having clinched their maiden title in 2019. Sweden won the last of their four crowns in Egypt in 1999.

Earlier in the day, Spain caused an upset by beating record six-time winners France 35-29 to win the bronze medal.
