Zamalek have arrived in Tunisia late on Wednesday and have started preparations for the game with Esperance in the 3rd round of the African Champions League group stage on Saturday.

The Cairo giants are expected to fight to snatch their first victory in the group stage when they face off Esperance, as the Whites suffered two goalless draws in the previous two rounds against Algeria’s Mouloudia d’Alger at home and Senegal’s Teungueth FC.

“Zamalek’s football director held a meeting with the players asking them to achieve a positive result against Esperance to retain the fans expectation,” Zamake’s Spokesman Essam Salem told a television programme.

Zamalek’s veteran winger Mahmoud ‘Shikabala’ Abdel-Razek will miss the African Champions League game due to an injury.

“I think the game against Esperance will witness a different show from Zamalek’s players due to the meeting we held with the players as well as encouraging them to return to winning ways,”

Zamalek are in the driving seat of the Egyptian Premier League teams’ table with 30 points after playing 13 matches so far this season, as they claimed victory in only nine games, drew in three, and lost one.

Egyptian Premier League title holders Ahly are second on the table with 24 points, but they still have three games to go that have been postponed.
