Ahly announced on Thursday that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal of Etoile du Sahel's Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly regarding the $1.4 million fine he has to pay after breaching a three-and-a-half-year deal with Ahly.

FIFA ordered Coulibaly in 2019 to pay a $1.4 million fine to Ahly after the latter lodged a complaint with the world governing body against the player who left the club in the summer of 2017.

The Ivorian striker joined Ahly from Scottish side Kilmarnock in January 2017 on a three-and-a-half-year deal

He produced many fine displays with the Red Devils, scoring six goals in 12 matches in all fronts.

However, he left the club five months later, explaining his acrimonious exit by saying that he had received a "slave's treatment" at the club.

Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel announced in May 2019 signing a four-year contract with the Ivorian striker.

The Tunisian giants started negotiations with Ahly to reach a settlement concerning the sanction, but the two sides failed to reach an agreement.

In June 2020 Ahly lodged another complaint with the FIFA after the player had failed to pay the $1.4 million penalty.

Coulibaly scored 13 goals in 32 appearances with Etoile du Sahel this season.
