Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry praised the team's training camp in Turkey, as they prepare for the coming season.

“It was a very good experience, we made the best use of it. The players are now ready for the new formats and strategies I am planning to implement in the upcoming matches,” the 52-year-old coach, who succeeds Portuguese manager Manuel Jose, said on the club’s official website.

Ahly will kick off the group stage of the CAF Champions League on 8 July against DR Congo’s Mazembe. They were also drawn with Ghana’s Chelsea and archrivals Zamalek.

During the camp, Ahly, who boast six titles making them the record winners of Africa’s premier club competition, smashed Turkish outfit Antalya 7-0 in an opening friendly before they drew against Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz and finished with a 10-1 victory over another Turkish club.

The team is expected to arrive in Cairo Friday morning to resume their regular training on Saturday before playing Ittihad El-Shorta friendly on Monday.

“The Turkey camp was successful and accomplished the targets we aimed for,” the Reds assistant coach Mohamed Yussif said.
