Egyptian midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou has heavily criticised his teammates at Saudi club Al-Nasr, blaming their "selfishness" on the pitch for the club's recent poor performance, in an interview Wednesday.

The Saudi giants sacked their Colombian coach Francisco Maturana after Saturday's 3 -1 defeat against rival Al-Hilal in the domestic league.

Al-Nasr have only won two matches out of five since the tournament's start, putting them fifth in the league table with seven points (six behind leaders Al-Fath). So far, they have lost two matches and drew one.

"I missed the cooperative playing this season with Al-Nasr. The players are selfish on the pitch and that may be a result of their dissatisfaction with the former coach's plans," Abd-Rabou told Saudi newspaper Al-Eqtisadiah.

"Al-Nasr is a great club and has all the elements of success but I think the players need a coach who is capable of getting the best use of them. The players also must be determined to prove their worth and achieve the interests of their club," added the Pharaohs star, who missed Al-Hilal clash due to a groin injury that will keep him out of action for a month.

The 28-year-old player joined Al-Nasr from Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily on a season-long loan in June.

Last season Abd-Rabou played in the Saudi Professionals League for Ittihad Jeddah also on loan, scoring four goals in 12 appearances. However, the Saudi champions failed to secure his services on a permanent basis.

"Now I have a good relation with the Saudi fans which motivates me. This sometimes makes my teammates jealous of me but I don't care as long as I make my fans happy," said the former France's Strasbourg player.

"My current experience with Al-Nasr is a perfect one professionally but I consider it my goal to return to playing in Europe," he added.

Despite being injured, Abd-Rabou recently joined the Pharaohs closed camp in Cairo ahead of Benin and Cameroon friendlies on 7 and 11 September.

Abd-Rabou was eager not to let down manager Bob Bradley, who summoned him and nine other foreign-based players for the two matches.
