Ahly's right-back Ahmed Fathi has denied seeking departure from the Cairo giants in the current winter transfer window, hinting, however, that playing in Europe is still a dream.

Amid interest from Saudi club Ittihad, reports claimed that the 28-year old player has officially asked the club management to release him after Ahly defaulted on payments owed to him.

"All these news are just rumours. I was on a vacation and I had no contact with media at all," Fathi was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"I am still dreaming of playing in Europe again but I haven't received any official offers," the Pharaohs star added.

Fathi is one of the Red Devils’ most consistent performers, thanks to his steady defensive displays. The Former Ismaily player joined Ahly in 2007 after leaving England's Sheffield, where he had little success.
