Egypt's U-20 team defeated New Island 2-1 in a Monday friendly in Turkey, held in advance for the U-20 World Cup.

The win came thanks to forwards Ahmed Refaat and Mahmoud Abdel-Moneam, who scored in the 15th and 78th minutes respectively.

The friendly victory was the second for the Young Pharaohs, who also thrashed Kosovo 8-0 on Saturday in Switzerland.

In the Swiss camp, Egypt failed to bag any wins in pre-World Cup friendlies, being held to a 2-2 draw by Romania before losing to Montenegro 3-1 and to Brazil 1-0.

Egypt will launch their World Cup campaign on 23 June, for which they have been paired with Chile, England and Iraq in Group E of the global tournament.
