Ahly's boss Mohamed Youssef said on Wednesday his side deserved to win the African derby against Zamalek adding Zamalek were lucky with this draw
Playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika converted a penalty in the 54th minute to give his side a deserved draw against Zamalek in the Champions League quarter finals' opener.
"We dominated a long part of the game, I think we deserved to win the game," Mohamed Youssef told Ahram Sports.
"Zamalek were lucky during the game as we wasted many chances of scoring especially during the second half."
Despite his displeasure concerning the match result, Youssef insisted that an away draw is not a bad result.
"As a defending champions we are looking always for wins but an away draw against a great team like Zamalek is not a bad result."
Ahly will host South African side Orlando Pirates on Sunday 4 August.
