Zamalek striker Abdoulaye Cisse has arrived in Tripoli to complete a move to Ittihad, according to Libyan reports.

The Burkinabe frontman will unilaterally terminate his contract with Cairo’s cash-strapped club Zamalek after growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s failure to pay his salary, the reports said.

Zamalek, who also saw midfielders Ibrahim Salah and Cameroonian Alexis Mendomo depart for the same reason, did not comment.

Cisse was given a new lease of life by Brazilian coach Jorvan Vieira, who also left in the summer after opting not to renew his deal, last season.

He won over Zamalek fans after scoring some decisive goals in the Egyptian Premier League, which was eventually cancelled for the second successive season due to the political turmoil that followed the Egyptian army’s overthrow of President Mohamed Morsi on 3 July.

He also played a key role in helping Zamalek qualify for the African Champions League group-stage after notching three goals during both legs of a 3-3 aggregate draw with Ethiopia’s Saint George in the preliminaries.

His departure would leave Zamalek with only two recognized strikers in Ahmed Gaafar and new arrival Ali Farid.
