Ahly midfielder Hossam Ashour could miss Ahly's match against Mexico's Monterrey at the Club World Cup fifth place decider on Wednesday.

According to Ahly's official website, the player is suffering from a groin injury and will be examined on Monday to determine his availability for the match.

Ahly failed to prove their worth at the opening game of their fifth appearance at the prestigious tournament by losing 0-2 to China's Guangzhou on Saturday.

Against the CONCACAF champions Monterrey, Ahly will be already missing the services of veteran playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika after he sustained a hamstring injury against Guangzhou that will sideline him for six weeks.

The Red Devils are also monitoring the situation of striker Emad Meteb, who is recovering from a minor injury.
