Zamalek secure a Confederation Cup spot after finishing third in the Egyptian league following to a 2-0 win over Petrojet

Zamalek earned their first win in the Egyptian Premier League's final playoff after defeating Petrojet 2-0 at Alexandria Stadium on Monday to qualify for the African Confederation Cup.

The White Knights secured a spot in Africa's secondary club competition after they finished third behind champions Ahly and second-placed Smouha.

Striker Ahmed Ali opened the scoring in the 35th minute before Hazem Emam ensured the win seven minutes from time.

Zamalek's coach Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam fielded five youngsters after deciding to sidelined several under-performing players following the 2-1 loss to Smouha on Wednesday.
