After a goalless draw with Ittihad El-Shorta in the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan asked fans to be patient with the newly signed players as they still "need time" to settle in.

The Cairo giants failed to build on their emphatic 6-1 victory over Talae El-Geish last week in yesterday's clash with Ittihad El-Shorta, squandering a host of clear chances and losing their first points of the season.

Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour signed 18 players in the summer transfer window to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.

"We signed talented strikers last summer like Ayman Hefny, Cisse, Khaled Qamar and Bassem Morsy but we have to be patient with them as they need time to improve," Hassan told a television programme after the game.

"We are in the beginning of the season and we still have time and games to be played," he added.

"All Zamalek's players are responsible and they are doing their best with the team to achieve titles."

Hassan told the team's fans during the El-Shorta game press conference that he had signed local players.

"We didn't sign players from Real Madrid. We are like the Egyptian teams and there are no differences," the Zamalek coach said.

Zamalek, who still have a game in hand, now lie eighth of the league table, level on four points with Shorta who have an inferior goal difference.
