Egyptian club Arab Contractors officially agreed on the hiring terms for football icon Hassan Shehata to become the club's new coach late on Tuesday.

Former Egypt coach Shehata was in charge of Moroccan club Difaa Al-Jadida before leaving his post a few days ago for financial issues.

"We have reached a final agreement with Shehata to take the charge of the team," Arab Contractors' football director Mohamed Adel revealed in TV declarations.

"Shehata will sign the contract next Sunday," he added.

The 65-year-old boss previously coached Arab Contractors in 2003, a turning point in his coaching career. He guided the team to win both the Egypt Cup and Super Cup in the 2003/2004 season.

Shehata's managerial career has been remarkable, having guided Egypt to three consecutive African Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, an unprecedented feat on the continent.

He was sacked by the Pharaohs following their failure to reach the 2012 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

He spent a short spell as Zamalek's coach in 2011, resigning after a troubled 11-month reign.

After leaving Zamalek, Shehata was appointed coach of Qatari side Al-Arabi, but he was sacked following a string of poor results.

Arab Contractors currently lie in 17th place in the Egyptian league table with six points, ten behind leaders ENPPI.
