Former Egypt coach Hassan Shehata started his reign in charge of Arab Contractors by steering his side to a 2-1 Egyptian Premier League win over Ittihad El-Shorta on Wednesday.

Midfielder Mohamed Abou-Sheashaa opened the scoring for Arab Contractors two minutes after the break and Ghanaian striker Ernest Papa Arko doubled the lead 20 minutes later.

Ittihad El-Shorta's midfielder Salah Rico scored a consolation for his side in stoppage time.

It was Contractors's second win in ten matches which puts them in the 14th place of the 20-team table with 10 points. El-Shorta are 11th on 13 points.

Shehata, who guided Egypt to three straight Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, was appointed as Arab Contractors' new coach last week.

He previously coached Contractors in 2003, a turning point in his coaching career. He helped them win both the Egypt Cup and Super Cup in the 2003/2004 season when they were still a second-division side.
