Amr Zaki has been included in Zamalek’s 20-man squad for Tuesday’s Egyptian Premier League match against Gouna after recovering from a knee injury.
The burly frontman made the squad for the first time in two months after shrugging off a persistent knee complaint.
The 28-year-old aggravated the injury, which he initially picked up in October last year, during a CAF Champions League match against Kenya’s Ulinzi Stars in March.
Zaki’s return will come as a major boost for Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan, whose side suffered from the lack of a reliable striker after the likes of Ahmed Gaafar and Ivorian Abou Kone failed to impress.
Zamalek will be looking to end a two-match winless run when they meet lowly Gouna.
The White Knights, who are eyeing their first league triumph since 2004, are on the top of the league table with 40 points, four ahead of arch-rivals and second-placed Ahly.
