After the team's poor results in the Egyptian Premier League, Smouha have sacked French coach Denis Lavagne just three months after his appointment.
Former Zamalek coach Helmi Toulan, who led the Cairo giants to the 2013 Egypt Cup title, was named as Lavagne's successor, Smouha chairman Farag Amer said.
The Alexandria side, who finished as runners up in the Egyptian Premier League last season, are suffering poor results during the current campaign as they are 15th in the teams' table with 17 points.
Former Cameroon manager Lavagne, 50, replaced Hamada Sedki last October. After the team’s poor results though – marked by ten losses in 17 match days – Smouha management released him.
Last year’s Dark Horse will play Ahly Tripoli in the first round of the CAF Champions League as they make their first ever appearance on the continental stage.
