Zamalek midfielder Omar Gaber will return to training starting Tuesday after ending his suspension, the club officially announced on Monday.

Gaber was suspended by the Cairo club for refusing to play against ENPPI in a league clash after 20 fans were killed ahead of the match in front of Air Defence Stadium.

"Gaber will rejoin the club's training on Tuesday after a friendly meeting with the club's president and the football director," the club revealed on its official Facebook page, referring to Monday's investigation of the player.

The Cairo giants didn't disclose any further details.

Zamalek fan favourite, Gaber, made headlines in the past two weeks in the wake of the military stadium's disaster on 8 February.

The 23-year-old midfielder refused to take part in the game against ENPPI after he was informed that fans had died.

Directly after the disaster, Gaber, a product of Zamalek's youth academy, said he would no longer play for the club.

He also defended his teammates who came under fire for agreeing to play, insisting that if they had been certain of the deaths, they would not have taken part in the game.

Upon his arrival at the club on 16 February for the first time since the disaster, Gaber was informed that he would be suspended from training with the team until an investigation into his conduct has concluded.

Technical staff told Gaber that he can only train with the youth team. But Gaber refused and opted to lodge a compliant to the football association.

He accused the technical staff of preventing him from attending training.

The club reacted by lodging a complaint against Gaber for failing to attend training without permission, though he agreed to be questioned by the club.
