Ahly may have to do without key duo Abdallah El-Said and Hosasm Ghaly when they open their African Champions League campaign next month after both were injured.
Playmaker El-Said suffers from a calf strain while skipper Ghaly picked up a knee injury. Both were hurt during Ahly’s African Super Cup game away to Algeria’s ES Setif, which they had lost on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
The two key players may miss Ahly’s opening Champions League clash in mid March against a yet-to-be-determined side.
Ahly will be bidding for a record-extending ninth Champions League title.
