Qatar’s Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac excluded Zamalek forward Hussein Yasser from the team’s training camp in Switzerland in preparation for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Rajevac, who was in charge of Ghana when they reached the World Cup quarter finals last year, opted against calling up Yasser due to his Egyptian Premier League commitments with Zamalek.

The premier domestic competition was initially scheduled to end in May but Egypt’s January revolution forced the league to prolong the finish to July.

Qatar’s training camp will be held from 28 June to 15 July.

Yasser had some fine displays lately during the Cairo giants Zamalek bid to end a league drought stretching back to 2004. He scored a memorable goal in the team’s 3-0 victory over Smouha following a brilliant personal effort.

Qatar, who have never qualified for the world’s most-watched sporting event, will face either Vietnam or Macau in the second round of the 2014 WC qualifiers on 23 July.

Rajevac, 57, was named to lead Qatar after Frenchman Bruno Metsu was sacked following the team's failure to advance past the quarter finals of the Asian Cup.
