Ahly veteran striker Emad Meteb will miss Tuesday's Egyptian Premier League game against Assiouty Sport on the 25th match-day due to a thigh problem, the club announced on Friday.

The 32-year-old attacker left the Egyptian national team preparation camp due to the injury he sustained during the 1-1 draw with Ismaily last Wednesday.

"Meteb is suffering from thigh fatigue and needs to undergo a rehab program for three days," Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud told the club's official website.

"He is in major doubt for the game against Assiouty with the injury," he added.

The Cairo giants have to win their coming league game to continue to be in the running to defend their Egyptian Premier League title. They are 3rd on the table with 40 points, eight behind arch-rivals and leaders Zamalek.

Ahly will still be without second striker Mohamed Nagy "Gedo" who has been sidelined for eight months after undergoing knee ligament surgery. Defender Mohamed Naguib will also be absent from the pitch as a result of a knee injury.
