Ahly's summer signing Ahmed El-Sheikh has been handed a four-month suspension and a LE133,000 fine after being found guilty of signing for two clubs in the summer transfer window.
Following a fierce competition with Zamalek for El-Sheikh's signature, Ahly managed to beat their arch-rivals for the ex-Maqassa playmaker's services.
However, Zamalek president Mortada Mansour insisted that the 26-year-old had initially signed for his club, filing a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
The player was subsequently suspended pending investigations by the EFA, which eventually banned and fined the new Ahly recruit.
It remains to be seen what will happen in El-Sheikh's case in the upcoming period, with reports indicating that Ahly are ready to take the case to FIFA to have him available for the new season.
