Ahly coaching staff have suffered a blow as they may have to do without winger Ahmed Fathy in the Egyptian Premier League round 24 clash against Petrojet on Friday.

The 26-year-old Pharaoh is suffering a calf strain from fatigue during his national duty qualifier against South Africa. The match ended with a goalless draw, elminating Egypt from the 2012 African Cup of Nations and forcing manager Hassan Shehata to step down.

“Fathy will be examined Wednesday after he had a 2-day rest,” the Cairo giant’s doctor told Ahram Portal.

The Red Devils' medical staff also revealed that Emad Meteb is training with Portuguese general trainer Pedro and will be ready to return to action after a long injury break.

“Sayed Moawad will join the training session tomorrow after he recovered his knee pains,” the doctor added.

“Mohamed Abu-Treika and Mohamed Fadl are better now but they have to continue their rehab programs.”

Under the helm of Portuguese manager Manuel Jose, Ahly are aiming to gain their seventh successive league trophy. They are second after going level on points, 46, with leaders and arch-rivals Zamalek.
