Barcelona striker Luis Suarez said he was excited to meet young Egyptian footballers in Spain, saying that it was "wonderful to hear their stories".

The comments of the Uruguayan hitman, who is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, came after he met the U-19 team of Pepsi Egypt's Nogoom El Mostakbal F.C. on Wednesday.

"Thanks to Pepsi Egypt for giving me the opportunity to meet the kids of Nogoom El Mostakbal F.C. while they’re touring in Spain," Suarez said on his official Facebook page.

"It's Wonderful to hear their stories and see the good level of Egyptian football."

The 28-year-old has played a key role in helping Barcelona win the La Liga, Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League treble last season after joining from Liverpool in the summer of 2014.

"Thank you Luis Suarez for this kind message and for spending an unforgettable day with our players," Nogoom El Mostakbal said in a statement.

"You are a true star and a great person and your advices to our players will hopefully motivate them to get to your level one day."

Nogoom El Mostakbal club was founded in 2007 said its mission was "to be one of the leading professional football clubs in Egypt and offer an opportunity for young talents to develop and compete in top flight football".

The club's senior side is currently taking part in the Egyptian second division.
