Zamalek's doctor Ayman Farid announced on Thursday that the team's Burkinabe defender Mohamed Koffi would not be available for the next three weeks due to injury.

"Koffi will be sidelined for around three weeks," Farid told Ahram Sports on Thursday.

''Scans revealed that he suffers from a hamstring tear."

The international defender sustained his injury during Zamalek’s 2-0 win over Wadi Degla in a league match last Thursday.

Koffi will join defender Ali Gabr who will  also be sidelined for around a month due to an ankle injury.

Zamalek's coach Jesualdo Ferriera will face a selection headache after losing his two defenders.

Koffi and Gabr were instrumental in Zamalek's triumphant campaign last season that saw the team win the double (Egyptian League and Egypt Cup) for the first time since 1988.

The defending champions will face newly promoted side Asouan on Sunday.
