Zamalek announced on Tuesday they were monitoring a few strikers who featured in the Under-23 African Cup of Nations to land one of them in the January transfer window.

"The team's assistant coach Sami El-Sheshiny returned from Senegal after writing up reports on some players who delivered good performance there," the Cairo-based club assistant coach Ismail Youssef stated on their official website Monday.

Zamalek didn't reveal names as they will be "discussing other suggestions before announcing their next anticipated super striker deal.”

Nigeria won the Under-23 African Cup of Nations after defeating Algeria in the final, while South Africa won bronze upon beating hosts Senegal in the third-place decider. The first three teams have automatically qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Currently, two foreigners are included in Zamalek's squad in Nigerian midfielder Maarouf Yussuf and Burkinabe center-back Mohamed Koffi. They have an empty spot for a third foreigner.

The Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup holders are resuming their bid for a second successive league title Thursday when they take on Haras El-Hodoud.

The Whites are currently sixth in the league table with 10 points from four matches, eight behind leaders Maqassa who played four games more.
