Fullback Ramzi Khaled of Ittihad of Alexandria signed a five-year contract with Zamalek, the Cairo giants announced on Thursday.

The 23-year-old, who is able to play as a right and left fullback, will start his mission with the White Knights next January.

It has been reported that the player will cost Zamalek LE2.5 million.

Zamalek had been looking for a left fullback as they struggled to find a replacement for international winger Mohamed Abdel-Shafi, who joined Saudi side Ahly Jeddah in 2014.

Summer signings Mohamed Adel and Sherif Alaa failed to convince Zamalek's coach Marcos Paqueta, who opted for defender Hamada Tolba, to play as fullback in their last game against Ghazl El-Mahallah.

The defending champions are fourth in the league table with 16 points, five behind leaders Maqassa who played three games more.
