Ahly's Gabonese striker Malick Evouna and midfielder Saleh Gomaa are close to joining the team's training for their game against ENPPI after doing well during rehab to recover from injuries that sidelined them in the previous two games.

"Evouna and Gomaa performed well in their rehab programme to recover from their injuries," Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Sunday.

"They are close to joining the team's regular training on Wednesday," Mahmoud said.

Evouna suffered from an ankle injury he sustained during training and missed the Red Devils two previous games against Ismaily and Ittihad of Alexandria, respectively.

Ahly's in-form midfielder Saleh Gomaa also missed the team's last two games after sustaining an ankle injury during their 1-1 draw with Dakhleya two weeks ago.

Ahly, who are currently leading the table with 29 points, are scheduled to face ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on 3 February.

"The duo (Evouna and Gomaa) are expected to be fit for the ENPPI game," he added.

Meanwhile, Ahly will continue to miss their regular attacking midfielder Walid Soliman who will be out of action for almost a month after tearing his ankle early in January.

Ahly are bidding to win the Egyptian Premier League title that they have won 37 times, after losing out to arch rivals Zamalek last season.
