Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium will host Tuesday's Egyptian Premier League clash between bitter rivals Ahly and Masry, the Egyptian Football Association said on Saturday.

The Egyptian FA said in a brief statement on its website that the match would take place at the army-owned stadium at 18:00 Cairo time on Tuesday, ending the uncertainty that had surrounded the fate of the rescheduled match during the past few days.

Fan tensions between both sides have been on the rise since the infamous 2012 Port Said tragedy, when more than 70 Ahly fans were killed after being attacked by rival Masry supporters following the end of an ill-tempered league game.

Masry, who did not take part in the 2012-13 season to avoid aggravating tensions with Ahly, were ordered by security officials to play all their home and away matches outside Port Said this term.

They have faced the Red Devils four times since Egypt's worst-ever football disaster. Two matches ended in wins for Ahly while the other two ended in draws.

Ahly, whose eight-season hegemony were ended by Cairo rivals Zamalek last term, are on top of the table with 40 points, five clear of the White Knights and eight ahead of joint-third Masry, who are enjoying a fine run.
