Ahly coach Martin Jol says his team should score early against Angolan champions Recreativo de Libolo next week to keep CAF Champions League chances alive.

After finishing their round of 32 first leg in a goalless draw, the Reds are eyeing a positive result when they host Recreativo on Saturday in the return leg in Cairo.

"We should score early to get full control of the match," Jol was quoted as saying by Ahly's official website on Monday.

"Missing chances like what happened in the first leg won't be acceptable again," the former Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax boss added.

"Being cautious is very important as receiving an early goal will make our mission more impossible."

Alongside Egyptian champions Zamalek, Ahly are representing Egypt in the African Champions League after finishing as runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League last season.

The record-holding eight-time CAF Champions League winners, Ahly eye their first continental trophy since 2014 when they won both the Confederation Cup and African Super Cup titles.

"The return match against Recreativo won't be an easy one, especially after the draw in Angola, but I have full confidence in my players to get a positive result and proceed to the next round," concluded the 60-year-old Jol.

Ahly currently lead the Egyptian league table with 47 points after 21 matches, six ahead of second-placed Zamalek.
