Ahly midfielder Saleh Gomaa will be sidelined for the team's Saturday showdown against Angolan champions Recreativo de Libolo in the second leg of the CAF Champions League round 32.
"Gomaa will not be able to recover from his leg muscle injury before Saturday's game," Ahly doctor Khaled Mahmoud told the club's official's website on Thursday.
In terms of good news for Dutch coach Martin Jol, striker Emad Meteb has performed normally and is expected to make an appearance.
The record-holding eight-time CAF Champions League winners Ahly were held in a goalless draw against Recreativo away in Angola on Saturday.
Ahly are representing Egypt in the African Champions League this season alongside last season's Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup winners Zamalek.
Zamalek were luckier than Ahly in their Champions League bid kick-off defeating Cameroon's Union Douala away on Sunday.
