Zamalek are likely to miss key duo Mostafa Fathi and Ayman Hefni when they meet Dakhleya in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday as they seek to keep alive their fast-fading hopes of defending their title.
Winger Fathi, 22, has not yet recovered from an injury that kept him out of Egypt's double-header against Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers last month.
Playmaker Hefni, Zamalek's best performer in recent games, picked up a calf injury during the team's 2-0 home win over Algeria's Bejaia in the first leg of the African Champions League round of 16 on Saturday.
The 30-year-old, a fan favourite, created the first goal when his pinpoint chipped pass found winger Mahmoud Kahraba in the second half as Zamalek moved to the brink of a place in the group stage of Africa's elite club competition.
Zamalek need to beat seventh-placed Dakhleya to avoid losing further ground on leaders Ahly, who are nine points clear of their Cairo rivals at the top of the table.
