Ahly’s goalkeeper coach Ahmed Naji announced on Sunday that Sherif Ekrami will be in the net for the game against Kima Aswan, the 32nd round of the Egypt Cup Championship. This will mark his return to the pitch after six months of absence due to injury.

“Ekrami is fit to save Ahly’s nets in the Kima Aswan game next Tuesday,” Naji told Ahram.

While absent, due to a cartilage injury, the 28-year old goalkeeper was replaced by Ahmed Adel Abdul-Menem.

The Ahly and Kima Aswan game in the Egypt Cup was originally postponed as the tournament was meant to be cancelled this season. All football activities in the country came to a halt during the 25 January revolution.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board has decided to play the remaining games of the 2010-2011 Egypt Cup Championship on 6 September.

“Ahly’s technical staff are yet to decide who will save the team’s nets in the African Champions League game against Moroccan side Wydad on Sunday,” Naji added.

“The trio of goalkeepers, Ekrami, Ahmed Adel and Abou El-Soud are competing to have a regular place in Ahly’s squad,” he concluded.
