Zamalek will have to do without first-choice goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawi for two weeks after he picked up a knee injury during an African Champions League game, the club said on Saturday.

El-Shennawi suffered a bruise to his left knee during Zamalek's 1-1 draw away to Algeria's MO Bejaia in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday.

Before he was substituted, the Egypt first-choice goalie pulled off some superb saves to thwart Bejaia on several occasions in the first half.

His substitute Mahmoud Gennesh was equally impressive, with Zamalek scoring two minutes from time via a goal from substitute Ahmed Hamoudi to salvage a draw and qualify for the group stage with a 3-1 aggregate win.

El-Shennawi will not be available when Zamalek face Haras El-Hodoud in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday and Ittihad El-Shorta in the Egypt Cup.
